This Health and Safety Policy sets out our approach to managing risks, complying with applicable legislation and continually improving our safety performance.

Policy Aims and Objectives

The aim of this policy is to ensure that all gardening activities are planned and carried out safely and responsibly. Our primary objectives are to prevent accidents and work-related ill health, minimise environmental and property damage, and promote a culture where safety is understood, valued and consistently applied by everyone involved in our work.

We recognise that gardening and grounds maintenance involve the use of machinery, sharp tools, chemicals and manual handling, often outdoors and in changing weather conditions. We therefore take a structured approach to identifying hazards and controlling risks across all sites where we operate.

Legal Responsibilities and Compliance

Gardeners Penge will comply with all relevant health and safety legislation, regulations and approved codes of practice applicable to our operations. We will keep informed of changes in legal requirements and industry guidance and update our procedures when necessary. Managers and supervisors are responsible for implementing this policy, ensuring work is carried out in accordance with safe systems and that compliance is monitored.

Employees have a legal and moral duty to cooperate with the company on all health and safety matters. They must follow training and instructions given, use protective equipment correctly and report hazards, incidents and near misses at the earliest opportunity.

Management Responsibilities

The management of Gardeners Penge accepts overall responsibility for health and safety within the business. We will provide appropriate resources, including time, information and training, to implement this policy effectively and to maintain safe working conditions at all times.

Care will be taken to prevent damage to buildings, vehicles, paths, fences, plants and other property. Debris such as cuttings, soil, stones and tools will be controlled and removed promptly.
